Nice. My Grandmother lived at 62 Huningdon Rd, Mrs Dorothy Clayton. Until she retired sometime in the 60,s she worked in the Post Office. Our family visited all the time from Manchester.

My late husband was Michael Harrison who was born at No. 4 Stoneleigh Avenue. The house was built for his mother, Dot, whose father, George Jenkins, designed most of the houses in that area. I was Fiona Bland and my father, Tom Bland, was vicar of Styvechale from 1945 - 1960. I stayed with Canon Startin when I was a baby, to stop me catching a childhood ailment from one of my sisters!

I was surfing passed and decided to leave my name. My family (Jim & Elsie) resided at 34 Poplar Rd before I was born in 1960 and we stayed there until we emigrated to Australia in 1969. I attended Broadway Junior Boys School until we left. My grandparents lived in Haddon St, Bell Green. I can remember finding tin hats in the bushes at the top of the street at the railway embankment. I decided to leave my name when I read the other enteries.

As the editor of a new book on Coventry cinema history ('Coventry Picture Palaces' by Gil Robottom - Mercia Cinema Society 2009) I can tell you that the Astoria photograph you display is not 1935, but 1940 when the main feature was 'Man and his Mate', and was taken by the Chief Projectionist at the time, the late W. G. 'Bill' Edkins. He went on to buy the Imperial, which he converted to La Continentale (closed 1963, demolished 1965). Mrs Edkins donated his collection to me.

I was born in Mickleton Road in 1950, then moved to Earlsdon Avenue South where we lived for a few years before moving to Australia in 1962. Even after all this time I still get a bit homesick and found this site great. Hope to get back one day for a visit. Was formerly Ann Howard.

My grandparents lived in Poplar Road for some fifty years and I stayed with them and my father as a teenager in the post world war years and I feel that Earlsdon is the place where my life started. This is indicated by the fact that I have a family trust that is named The Earlsdon Trust. I am now in my seven fifth year and living in Australia

Hi, just having a nostalgic look at Earlsdon, as I lived there from 1972 - 1980, but my grandmother lived there until her death in 1994. We all lived in Myrtle Grove, which was then a peaceful little road. I attended the school, and generally have such fond memories, such as the street parties for the Queens Silver Jubilee! I remember attending the festival, and being in fancy dress leading the parade...
